Throughout the struggle, Republican youth have always played an expansive role in the liberation of our country, young men and woman like ourselves have sacrificed and dedicated their live in the persuit of the Republic. Organisations such as Na Fianna Eireann and Cummann Na Mban are organisations to draw inspiration from.
Who are Na Fianna hEireann?
Na Fianna hEireann or Fianna Na hEireann are an Irish Republican Youth Movement founded in 1909 by Constance Markievicz. They where active during many periods including the Howth Gun Running in 1914 and also played a significant part in the 1916 Easter Rising.
The organisation still exists to this day and is split into different factions, one aligned with Republican Sinn Fein and the other aligned with the 32 County Sovereignty Movement. The Fianna in what ever shape or form, are out there today actively encouraging young Republicans to become involved in the struggle they are also participating in marches, commerations and protests throughout the country.
Who Are Cumman Na mBan?
Cumman Na mBan are a womans Irish Republican Asscotiation formed in 1913 launched at Wynne's Hotel, Dublin and was led by Kathleen Lane - O Kelle.
The Cumman Na mBan like the Fianna played a significant role prior and during the 1961 Easter Rising. Like the Fianna also they still exist and are aligned with Republican Sinn Fein. Cumman Na mBan is also actively encouraging young Republican woman to get involved with the struggle, women have played a vital role in our struggle and that should not be forgotten, women such as Mairead Farrell and Marian Price have played a huge role in the struggle
We believe that we as the Youth and the future of Republicanism, we need to actively engage with everyone especially like minded people of our age and try and actively persure the ideals various organisations seek to achieve right up to this very day, and its our responisbility to keep the ideals of 1916 alive today in 2009.
